Former Texas cosmetology teacher, Kedria Grigsby and her son, Roger Magee, have been arrested and charged for allegedly recruiting and trafficking several underage victims from the Klein Independent School District. The district is also being sued by another victim for failing to “protect their students.”

KHOU 11 reported that according to Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, the victims—aged 15, 16, and 17—had been reported as “troubled” runaways before investigators learned that Grigsby had allegedly lured the local high school students in, offering them shelter in a motel.

On Friday (Feb. 7), attorneys of another former Klein Cain student named “Jane Doe” shed even more light on the horrendous alleged actions that took place in those motels. While speaking at a news conference outside Klein ISD headquarters, civil rights attorney Bakari Sellers stated: “The devastating portion is Jane Doe was forced to sleep with five to 10 men a night and make $1,000 a day for Ms. Grigsby and her son while residing with them.”

Attorneys claim Jane Doe’s phone, which was confiscated by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, contained text messages and Zelle transactions between her and over 100 men. Despite this, reportedly none of the men involved have been charged and HCSO has stated that the investigation is ongoing.

Sellers also criticized Klein ISD, arguing that warning signs about Grigsby’s behavior had been ignored for far too long. He claimed the Jane Doe also made multiple attempts to seek help while at school, only to have those pleas dismissed. He pointed to one particular instance when the student allegedly arrived at school covered in bruises—a concerning sight reported by a teacher to school administrators. According to Sellers, little to nothing was done about it.

“Her reward for going through that trauma was that she was withdrawn from school,” Sellers claimed. The attorney also issued a call for approximately “eight or nine more victims” to come forward. “We’re looking for all of these young ladies that were suffering in silence,” he urged.

In response to the lawsuit and scrutiny, Klein ISD released a statement to the media reaffirming its commitment to student safety and detailing the immediate actions taken once Grigsby’s crimes were uncovered.

“Our commitment to safety in Klein ISD is unparalleled, and we stand with any victim of a criminal’s actions. When we become aware of potential wrongdoing, we act immediately and with vigilance,” the statement reads. “As we’ve stated before, after being alerted by HCSO on April 8, 2024, Grigsby was arrested immediately in her classroom by the Klein ISD Police and fired while in her jail cell.”

“Today, after being made aware of new allegations, Klein ISD Police contacted a Major with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office to confirm whether any Klein ISD employees are under investigation regarding this case,” it continues. “HCSO confirmed they are not working on any active leads in this case. HCSO further advised that if any new information surfaces, they will investigate it, but at present, they are considering the case closed.”
