Sean “Diddy” Combs Placed on Suicide Watch at Metropolitan Detention Center

Sean “Diddy” Combs, currently in custody at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, New York, awaiting trial on sex-trafficking and racketeering charges, has been placed on suicide watch, according to sources familiar with the matter. The decision to place Combs on suicide watch is a routine measure taken in high-profile cases to ensure the safety of the individual involved.

Combs’ legal team continues to fight for his release from the facility. They had requested that he be placed on house arrest with a $50-million bond, but their plea was denied by U.S. District Judge Andrew L. Carter. The proposed bail package aimed to confine the hip-hop mogul to his Star Island mansion in Miami, with strict security measures in place, including no access to cellphones, internet, or contact with women other than his family. However, Judge Carter deemed this arrangement insufficient for Combs’ release pending trial.

The Metropolitan Detention Center, known for housing high-profile inmates such as R. Kelly and Ghislaine Maxwell, has a history of violence and substandard conditions. Combs’ indictment, unsealed on Tuesday, charges him with sex trafficking, racketeering, and transportation to engage in prostitution. During the hearing, Combs pleaded not guilty and was denied bail.

According to the indictment, Combs and his associates allegedly enticed female victims, often under the guise of a romantic relationship. Subsequently, Combs is accused of using force, threats, coercion, and controlled substances to compel these victims to engage in sexual acts with male prostitutes in what he referred to as “freak offs.” Prosecutors claim that Combs administered ketamine, ecstasy, and GHB to keep the women compliant during these encounters, which sometimes lasted for days. The indictment further alleges that Combs orchestrated, directed, and recorded these elaborate performances, often causing significant damage to the hotel rooms where they took place.
